The 5th and 6th Graders attended the Water Festival at Dakota College in Bottineau. They looked at organisms under a microscope to decide which water quality they live in, looked at an actual map to find waterways in ND, and some 6th graders got to dissect a perch.

Due to the forecasted weather for Monday, April 27 the track meet in St. John will not take place. The meet will take place in Bottineau on April 28 at 2:00 pm for JH and varsity.
The track meet that was scheduled for St John on Monday has been moved to Tuesday, BUT it has been moved to Bottineau. We are not hosting the Peace Garden conference this year. Weather permitted as always.

National Library Week Day 3
Why do we have book fairs? To help supplement the library budget. All profits from the book fairs stay in the library and are used to purchase new books and games for the library space. Each school year about 100 books are lost or damaged. These extra funds help replace those titles or bring in new titles to take their place. This year the funds also helped fill the Book Buddy cart for students in grades K-4 who complete their nightly reading. These students get to pick out a book to keep at home.

The track meets for Friday, April 24th (high school) AND Saturday, April 25th (junior high) have been CANCELLED for Rugby.
I want to take the time to send thanks to our Administrative Assistants- Susan Cain (Assistant Business Manager) and Paige Bryant (Administrative Assistant). The front office is the tone-setter for school districts. I believe we have the best assistants! Your hard work, perseverance, and warm attitudes do not go unnoticed! You definitely make the St. John School a much better place! Thanks for everything you do!

Middle school students get to visit the library as a class each week to pick-out something new to read or renew what they are not done with. High schoolers visit the library once a month as a class. They are also welcome to stop in anytime there isn’t a library class in session to get something new. This year students throughout the school have checked out 8,373 books – that’s 513 MORE than last school year!

Elementary students come to the library once a week for a read aloud, a lesson, and time to find their next read. Everyone is welcome to stop in before school starts in the morning to get something new if they finish before their next check-out time. Mrs. Martin hid tickets in books throughout the library to celebrate this week. If students find a ticket in the book they check-out, they may return it, tell Mrs. Martin about what they read, and claim a prize.

Reminder for 3rd and 4th graders: testing for 3rd grade is Tuesday and Thursday and 4th grade is testing Wednesday. Make sure your student gets a good nights rest and has breakfast to be ready for testing!
Changes to the Northern Lights softball schedule for this week:
•Tuesday April 21 at Midway HS V/JV at 4:00 (due to lack of umpires on Thursday )
•Wednesday April 22 at Belcourt vs Langdon-M V/JV/JH at 11:00 (due to forecasted weather on Friday)
Ms. Hanson's kindergarten class celebrated Letter A countdown on Friday with some rainbow fish ART! So cute!

Our librarian works to bring in titles that are current, relevant, and connected to the curriculum. We are blessed with a beautiful library space that we hope is welcoming for students and staff.
