Q: In what year did we become the 'Woodchucks,' and what was our mascot before becoming the 'Woodchucks'?
A: We became the Woodchucks in the year 1949. Prior to that, we were the St. John Zephyrs! For those of you who don't know what a Zephyr is, it is defined as "a soft, gentle breeze, derived from the Greek “zephuros”, meaning god of the west wind."

Due to a scheduling error we had to swap two game's dates:
•The BBB team will now travel to Leeds on Monday Feb 9 for ABJH starting at 4:30.
•White Shield will play in St. John on Tuesday Feb 10 in A&B BBB starting at 5:00.
•The C-squad game scheduled vs Devils Lake has been cancelled.

JH Boys BB will practice until 4:30 at the new gym today.
Those heading to Harvey for basketball and wrestling. Wrestling & Varsity basketball game is at the High school on the north end of town. The JV Basketball game is at the elementary in downtown Harvey.

Woodchuck basketball team and Northern Lights wrestling team travel to Harvey today for a boys double header!
The St. John Public School will participate in the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) for grades 4, 8 and 12. The 8th grade will test on March 2. The 12th grade will test on March 3rd. The 4th grade will test on March 5. Students will be tested in either reading or math. A letter was sent home with the students on January 28th and was also posted on our school website at https://www.stjohn.k12.nd.us/documents/parent-resources/20174801
