The home JH BBB games today, Dec 12 vs Turtle Mountain will start at 4 pm.
The BBB game at Harvey-WC that was cancelled on Friday has been rescheduled to Monday Dec 18 in St. John. The GBB team also has a home game against Harvey-WC on that date. We will run this as a double header using two gyms. The old gym will have BBB C&B Squads starting at 3:00. The New Gym will have GBB B Squad staring at 4:30 followed by both Varsity games.
December 11, 2023, there will no practice today for Boys Junior High Basketball.
Due to road conditions, the Northern Lights girls wrestlers will not be traveling to Carrington this morning (Saturday Dec 9).

The JH girls game vs Dunseith is still on as scheduled at 4:00.
As part of our health and wellness initiative, we would like to extend a morning workout offering to our students (grades 7-12) starting 12/18/2023, Mondays and Wednesdays. The morning session will go from 6 am to 7 am. Students must have their own rides. A valid physical is needed before starting the initiative. The intent is to continue this Until May 10, 2024.
Keep in mind this is a new initiative and it can and will change throughout the year to optimize the sessions and programming. What this means is our leader/trainer will adapt the sessions to best suit the participants. This is for all levels of physical fitness. We understand there might be students who are just looking to get into better shape, shedding a few pounds, or advancing their physical fitness.

The St. John Public School has an opening for a Full-Time Bus Driver.
Qualifications: Valid CDL drivers license to operate a school bus as required by State Law with passenger “P” and school bus “S” endorsement and a good driving record.
Applications can be downloaded on the school website www.stjohnk12.nd.us, emailed, or picked up in the main office.
I would like to have a short meeting for everyone interested in the health/wellness initiative. We will meet in Mr. Eli Luna's classroom at 3:20 for a brief meeting. Discussion topics will be: 1. Expectations, 2. date and time of sessions, 3. levels of sessions (high, low, etc.), 4. Q and A.

Please help your student look for missing library books. They are reading and eager to get new books so let's get the old ones returned.
Also, the White Elephant Sale will be Monday, December 18th and I'm still taking donations of new or gently used items for the kids to shop from.

On Monday FFA students participated in District Leadership in Rugby. Allie Crissler competed in the Creed Speaking contest and earn a Bronze. We had 3 freshmen compete in the Greenhand Quiz and they all earn Bronze. They were Allie Crissler, Keily Charboneau & Carol Delong. We also had 5 students compete in the Quiz and earned a bronze. They were Brenden Arvidson, Lili Schroeder, Abby Delorme, Stirling Gable & Chloe Martin.
Ms. Hannon's Livestock class is learning how to do sutures.
Friendly Reminder: Today, Dec. 6th, there will be a 1:00pm dismissal due to Staff Professional Development.
Last week, we were notified by the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction that St. John Public School District #3 was awarded the 2023 National ESEA Distinguished School. St. John Elementary/Middle School has been acknowledged as a Category 1 (Exceptional student performance, and academic growth, for two or more consecutive years) distinguished school. There were nearly 100 schools recognized nationwide and one of two schools acknowledged in North Dakota. This is the second year in which St. John has been recognized for this prestigious honor, as last year St. John High School was awarded this.
St. John Public School District #3 is extremely excited and proud of this accomplishment. We believe this is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and willingness to go above and beyond for our students. We want to acknowledge that this achievement reflects the collective relationship between students, parents, staff members, school board members, and every stakeholder who participates in assisting the development of our students/children.
