Parents, Guardians, Family Members:
St. John Public School will have Parent/Teacher Conferences on Wednesday, November 2nd from 3:30 – 9:00.
AT 6:30 WE WILL BE HAVING A SPEAKER PRESENT ON VAPING AND THE EFFECTS Of VAPING.
Vaping has become a National Epidemic and has been discussed at most administrator meetings and conferences the last two years. Schools in North Dakota and more closely, our schools in the Turtle Mountains have also seen and dealt with this epidemic in our schools.
As a school, we have provided training to middle and high school students the last two years as a preventative measure. We are now looking for additional resources as some of our students have either confided in staff, or on a survey that we have given out, that they are now addicted. We are looking for help for those students that are at that level.
Here is a little information on our speaker. Frank White has spent the last 34 years as a Sociology professor at the University of North Dakota. His expertise includes a popular and topical course called Drugs and Society. His research agenda focuses on youth attitudes and behaviors regarding the vaping epidemic, electronic nicotine delivery systems (e-cigs), underage drinking, prescription pain-killers (opioids) and current drug prevention strategies.

REMINDER: Picture retakes will be tomorrow, November 1st

It has been decided that instead of Thanksgiving baskets this year, the Middle School house project for November will be sending care packages to our troops overseas. We will be gathering items throughout the month of November per house and will package them up to send. Mr. Luna has a good friend deployed right now and we thought sending this platoon items would be an awesome idea and much appreciated by all.
